For example, mastering a few simple strategies can improve your financial skills. In addition, you will gain new knowledge that helps you build a successful career.

Claim Your C-Corporation US Tax Every Year

In the first part of our blog, we explain which forms you need to file tax returns for a C-corporation in the USA. Specifically, we cover the key details of forms such as NYC-2, NYC-2.4, and NYC-579-COR, along with 1120, CT-3, and CT-3-M. We also offer a step-by-step guide to make this process easier for you, so your business can maintain proper tax planning.

Federal and State Tax Forms

Form 1120: This is Form 1120, the federal tax return for American corporations, including C-corporations. Use it to report income, deductions, credits, and taxes payable. Because accuracy matters here, fill out this form carefully. Doing so helps you correctly reflect your corporation’s financial status and tax obligations.

CT-3: This is Form CT-3, the tax return required for corporations subject to income tax in New York State. Use it to report income, deductions, and taxes tied to business activities within the state. Therefore, review New York’s tax laws and regulations carefully before filling out this form.

CT-3-M: This is Form CT-3-M, a shortened version of the New York State corporate tax return. You can use it if your corporation meets certain eligibility criteria. Those criteria unlock a simplified filing procedure. Generally, it only requires basic income and tax information.

New York City Tax Forms

NYC-2: File this form to report and pay the New York City franchise tax. The tax applies to the entire net income of a legal entity, including C-corporations. So, you likely need to file it unless your corporation qualifies for a specific exemption.

NYC-2.4: This form attaches to NYC-2. Use it to report specific deductions and credits that reduce your franchise tax liability. However, whether you need it depends on which deductions and credits apply to your corporation.

NYC-579-COR: This form covers reporting and payment of the Unincorporated Business Tax (UBT) in New York City. The UBT applies to the net income of unincorporated businesses operating in the city. Since C-corporations aren’t subject to UBT, though, you generally won’t need this form.

1125-A: This form reports the tax on transferring real estate property rights located in the state of New York. However, it has no connection to your C-corporation’s standard tax reporting unless your corporation is buying or selling real estate.
